On the Streets: Entrepreneurs Are Everywhere

Our Mission

  • Explore the entrepreneurial activity aroung TU.
  • Feel free to define "entrepreneur" as broadly as you wish, but be prepared to explain why you were interested in the people you met...what is an entrepreneur?
  • Seek diversity--look for entrepreneurs doing wildly diffirent things.
  • Try to understand how they create value for their customers: Who are their customers? Why do they buy what they buy?
  • In understanding the entrepreneurs, consider other qiestions, such as:
    • How did the entrepreneurs get started doing what they are doing?
    • Do they have plans to grow?
    • Do they have plans to open any other type of business?
    • How do they compete? Who do they compete with?
  • Seek both breadth and depth:
    • Breadth: look for broadest range of entrepreneurial activities as possible; be creative in your definition of entrepreneurial?
    • Depth: get a feel for the amount of specific types of activities: are some more common than others? What seems to be the most common? What is the most obscure? Why? (Hint: while tourism is a major economic activity in this area, it is not the only activity; push yourself to see beyond just tourist related businesses.)
  • Look for creativie and innovative activities.
  • Capture: photos, video, recording, transcripts of interviews or conversations.
  • Try to understand the following questions for each type of entrepreneurial activity:
    • What is the value being created?
    • Who is it being created for?
    • (Define both of these with as much detail as poosible.)
